Family Time at Your Library this December

Family Time at Your Library is the annual reading initiative held every December which aims to support a family-focused approach to reading and to promote reading as a fun, recreational activity for children. We’re celebrating throughout the month in all Cavan Libraries and invite all families to visit us for storytimes, crafts, competitions and more!

Science Festival Family Fun Day is back and this year we will be in Cavan Institute. Join us for some science experimenting, reptiles, creative activities and lots lots more! We are looking forward to meeting you this Saturday, 8th November from 11am - 4pm. * Children must be supervised at all times when attending this event*.

"Nature and its Awesome Beauty" launched in Johnston Central Library this week. Congratulations to artist Khalid Paracha and thank you to An Cathaoirleach, Cllr John Paul Feeley for officially opening the exhibiton. Make sure to pop in to view this stunning collection.

Children's Book Festival in full swing!

Cavan County Library Service has been organising Children's Book Festival events in October for many years, and it remains a central focus of our annual programming calendar. The aim is to spread the enjoyment of books and reading among children of all ages. 2025 is a bumper year for author visits with Peter Donnelly, Sadhbh Devlin, Nina Carbery and more! Don't miss our storytimes and activites in libraries through the month of October.

Culture Night Awaits!

Culture Night is taking place this Friday across the county. The programme is packed with exciting and diverse events- from Dowra to Bailieborough and everywhere in-between including Johnston Central Library, Cootehill Library and Bailieborough LIbrary. Culture Night is a celebration of creativity and community, with all events completely free and open to everyone. We’d love for you, your friends, and your families to come along and enjoy the evening’s offerings.
