Cavan County Council’s Library Service provides unlimited and free access to information, education, leisure, entertainment and business development. CavanLibrary Service exists to improve and enhance the quality of life for all ages and all groups in society. Our service is a conduit for active citizenship and a hub for local activity.

Three full-time libraries - Johnston Central Library, Bailieborough Library and Cootehill Library
Six part-time libraries - Belturbet, Arva, Ballyconnell, Ballyjamesduff, Virginia and Kingscourt
Free library membership and free lending for all. Our no fines policy breaks down all barriers to library membership.
Three multi-purpose spaces with active and engaging arts, cultural, educational and community events programming.
