Creative Cavan Celebrates Success with “Shared Ground” Funding Award

Creative Cavan is delighted to announce that the “Shared Ground” project has been successful in securing funding under the Creative Ireland Creative Communities on a Shared Island programme.

This exciting project  brings people together across borders, using creativity as a way to connect, share stories, and build meaningful relationships. Cavan creatives Jess Kavanagh and Gerard O’Reilly will deliver the programme which will including  textiles woven with stories.   Shared Ground will explore what we have in common while celebrating the richness of our different experiences throughout Counties Cavan and Fermanagh.

“Shared Ground” is all about people – creating a space where communities can come together, listen, collaborate, and make something beautiful in the process. Through hands-on creative workshops and shared experiences, participants will connect across County Cavan and Fermanagh, building friendships and new understandings along the way.

Under Creative Communities on a Shared Island, thirteen local authorities will receive funding to deliver large, medium, and small-scale projects over three years, promoting cross-border collaboration and connections between communities North and South.

Shared Ground is a fantastic example of this in action – grounded in creativity, but rooted in real relationships and shared experiences.

Speaking about the award, Creative Cavan Co-ordinator Emma Clancy  said:
“We are absolutely thrilled to receive this funding. Shared Ground is a really special project that puts people and connection at its heart. It’s about slowing down, listening to each other, and creating something meaningful together.”

The project will roll out in the coming months, with opportunities for participants to get involved in a series of relaxed, welcoming creative sessions. No previous experience is needed – just a willingness to take part, connect, and create.

Creative Cavan looks forward to sharing more updates as the project unfolds and invites communities to get involved in shaping this unique shared creative journey.
