While libraries are closed due to Coronavirus (COVID-19), you do not need to finalise your application in the library before being able to use our free Online Library Services accessible at www.cavanlibrary.ie

  • Just fill out the online form
  • You will recieve a temporary library number and you can set up a library PIN. With your temporary library number and your PIN you will be able to access our Online Library Services straightaway.

    If you are under the age of 18, you must review these terms and conditions with your parent or guardian before agreeing to make sure that you or your parent or guardian understand your and their legal obligations. Parents or guardians are responsible for their children’s digital content selections. Please note that the normal age restrictions for accessing content for e-books and e-audio books are not in place for users who have registered during this temporary arrangement.

How do I join?

To complete your online registration, call into your local library with photographic identification and proof of address.  See your nearest branch at  your local branch   - NOT REQUIRED DURING LIBRARY CLOSURES DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS.

How much does it cost?

It’s free to join and  there is no charge for overdue books! 

What type of indentification do I need?

Please bring

1. Photographic identification - passport or driving licence. 

2. Proof of address ie. utility bill, bank statement or driving licence.  

Children and young people under the age of eighteen years must get permission from a parent / guardian to join the library. Parent / Guardian must provide identification as above to activate a child's membership. 

What are the rules?

What can I borrow?

Members can borrow up to 12 items including DVDs for three weeks and reserve up to 12 items.

How do I access my online account?   

Click on My Account

You will require the 14 digit serial number from the back of your library card and a four digit pin number.  A PIN will be issued with your membership card at the time you join the library.  If you can't remember your PIN just ask a member of staff to help and you can be issued a new PIN.

What can I do online?

You can join our library now!

You can search and reserve items on the  Catalogue

As a fully registered member, you can access My Account to view items currently on loan, renew your books and request items from our Catalogue.

Check under Schools Service if you wish to register your school / preschool for membership.
