National Heritage Week 17 - 25 August celebrates all things heritage related. It brings together communities and cultural institutions, academics and enthusiasts, to build awareness about the value of heritage and support its conservation. This years theme is “Pastimes / Past Times”, which takes a close look at how our ancestors spent their free time, and how this has impacted on our pastimes of today. From fireside storytelling to basket weaving, drawing, lace-making, pottery and even fern collecting, this year’s theme encourages everyone to find out how our pastimes have changed over time, or in some cases, how they have not changed at all.
