Staycation or backyard, no matter where you are this summer, you will need a captivating page-turner to keep you company and help you forget about COVID times. So look no further than our Summer Reads 2020!

Cavan Library Service is OPEN for business!

We are delighted to announce that our libraries OPEN! You can browse, borrow, use computer facilities and print! With your Health and Safety of paramount importance there are some changes in each library but rest assured there will be a warm welcome as always when you arrive. Our opening hours have changed - check the details of your library. The capacity in libraries is reduced so you may have to queue for entry and your time in the library will be limited. To manage demand you time at our public PCs will also be limited and we advise that you ring ahead to book a slot. Children must be accompanied by an adult. We look forward to seeing all our members and friends in the coming days and weeks!

Summer Stars National Reading Adventure 2020!!

Summer Stars is the public library national summer reading programme for children that runs from the 15th of June until the end of August. All children throughout the country are invited to join the adventure and to enjoy the fun and pleasure of reading and writing over the summer. Summer Stars is non-competitive and every child who reads even one book is regarded as having completed the programme – and it’s all completely free! There are a host of reading based activities to enjoy over the summer. Check out our Events Page for more information.

Extended Library Loans

Library members - There is no need to worry about items you may currently have on loan from Cavan Library Service. We have updated the due date for all items currently on loan - your new due date is 30th June 2020. We have also extended all library memberships, due to expire soon, until 30 June 2020. You can access and manage your library account online through our website anytime. Stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you when we re-open.

€4m for Virginia Civic Centre and Library

Cavan County Council has secured €3,963,525 in funding for the Virginia Library and Civic Centre project, under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund.
